1.Conducting Investigations of Trade Remedy Cases

The ITC is responsible for handling import relief (safeguard) cases as well as injury investigations for countervailing and antidumping cases. Government representatives, scholars, and industry experts are also invited to join investigation task forces for data and information collection and analysis.

2.Reinforcement of the Legal Framework of Trade Remedy

The ITC has been involved in revising Rules for Handling Import Relief Case, and Regulations Governing the Implementation of the Imposition of Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties in accordance with the WTO's Agreements on Safeguards, Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, Antidumping, the safeguard clauses in the Accession Protocol of China, as well as in reference to other countries' trade remedy laws and regulations. Some of the ITC's other duties in this area, pursuant to WTO rules, include translating the revised Rules for Handling Import Relief Cases into English and preparing the drafts of WTO notifications. In addition, the ITC has also collected, translated and studied the trade remedy laws and regulations of other countries.

3.Engaging in International Trade Affairs

The ITC is in charge of the safeguards related work of the "International Economic and Trade Strategic Alliances Planning Team," and it has been actively involved in various conferences and new round negotiations of the WTO's Committee on Safeguards, Committee on Anti-Dumping Practices, Committee on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, and AD Friends, through which Taiwan's positions on trade-related topics are presented.
